Don Fierro Stadium is a stadium in Bayview, New Chandler. The stadium was opened in 1999 and serves as the home for the Men and Women Dixon University Green Warriors and the Real Bayview professional Football Club. It is built just outside of Central Bayview and Dixon University, and in the Green Valley (often called Monsoon Valley).
Don Fierro Stadium is named for Marcus Fierro, a graduate and longtime professor and counselor at Dixon University as well as a pastor. Diagnosed with brain cancer, he donated much of his income to the construction of a new stadium for Dixon University before he died in 1993. In 1998, a year before the stadium was opened, President Stanley Barker Page gave Fierro the title of "Don" (a title given to an influential leader of New Chandler of culture, science, religion, art, or education, but not given to political leaders) and the stadium was named in his name a year later when it opened. The address was 1937, the year Fierro was born.
Don Fierro Stadium has 81,000 seats, however most games exceed this number by using the standing room areas.
International Football Matches[]
The New Chandler National Football Team often uses Don Fierro Stadium playing friendlies with other AIFF teams, due to it's ambient location and large capacity. This stadium is also used in the annual AIFF Tropics Cup. The Duwamish National Team, bearing a strong rivalry to New Chandler, strongly dislikes playing in Don Fierro Stadium, as it was the location where Duwamish got their first AIFF loss.
Home Field Advantage[]
New Chandler has a strong home field advantage playing in Don Fierro Stadium. As of December 2010, the New Chandler National Team is undefeated, with a 3-0 record, in Don Fierro Stadium. Each of these games, the stadium has been sold out.
Duwamish does not like playing in Don Fierro Stadium due to them losing their first game to New Chandler in the 2010 AIFF Tropics Cup. For all friendly matches, New Chandler respects the opinion of Duwamish by not playing friendlies in the stadium, however, New Chandler is going to try their hardest to play Duwamish in tournaments hosted by New Chandler.
